Hi Everyone, earlier this year I was running a weekly video series on Patreon covering various topics of network science. Now I will do a rerun of those videos on Substack - strting with this piece, also shared here on YT.
In this video, I introduce the concept of network science and explain why it is a fascinating and widely applicable field. I discuss the history of network science, starting from a puzzle in the city of Konigsberg in the 18th century. I also explore the role of Leonhard Euler in solving this puzzle and how it led to the development of graph theory. Additionally, I highlight the different domains that network science is rooted in, including mathematics, social sciences, physics, and computer science. Throughout the video, I emphasize the importance of nodes and edges in network structures and how networks can be filled with various types of data.
