Multiple emergency services departments responded for a fire alarm in an assisted living facility at Gabriel House - 261 Oliver St in Fall River, MA. On arrival, responding personnel found heavy smoke conditions in a large 3 story facility with numerous residents needing aid and rescue. With rescues being made through windows, over ladders and through dark hallways, emergency personnel made a large number of rescues that resulted in over 30 people being brought to area hospitals to be treated. Unfortunately, at the time of posting this scanner capture, 9 residents of the facility are known to have succumbed to their injuries with many more remaining in care at area hospitals. Fire and EMS personnel from all over Bristol County, Plymouth County and parts or Rhode Island responded to assist with the Mass Casualty incident that resulted.

This audio capture should be viewed not as a ghoulish delight for those who want to listen to the suffering of others. Please listen to it and hear "The Helpers" as they put forth extraordinary efforts to try to save the lives of those trapped in the fire. For the families of those involved in the fire... should you choose to listen... I hope you will hear just how hard so many responders worked to try to effect as positive an outcome as they could. Unfortunately, the results were not what everyone had been hoping for.
