This is a video in my new Core Concepts series -- designed to provide students and lifelong learners a brief discussion focused on one main concept from a classic philosophical text and thinker.

This video focuses on Plato's dialogue, The Crito, and examines the arguments made by the Laws of Athens, telling Socrates why it would be wrong for him to break the laws, and flee from his death sentence.

In this video, I also discuss whether we ought to view the arguments of the Laws as articulating an early form of social contract theory -- and I give reasons why I say that's not the case
