i. Charitable trusts
ii. Miscellaneous, non-charitable trusts
iii. Re Denley trusts

A purpose trust not falling within one of the above categories is legally void (Re Astor’s Settlement Trusts [1952] Ch 534; Re Shaw’s Will Trust [1957] 1 WLR 729)
