Tiny Detour 2016

Detour hit the road again on May 1st, 2016 with Chimney Choir, Laura Goldhamer, Tiny Cinema, Meep Records, and a new theme - anything and everything Tiny. We visited three communities (Colorado Springs, Buena Vista, and Carbondale), set up for two days in each, and invited the community to come participate in our Tiny Village.

This included a Tiny Home built with help from the community, which housed a Tiny Recording Studio with Adam from Meep Records cutting performances from brave community members straight to vinyl, allowing them to leave with a one-of-a-kind postcard. Professor Davey B. Gravey brought his Tiny Cinema, sharing Tiny Films made on his Super 8 camera and providing live accompaniment in his four-person theater. Percussion Guru Carl Sorenson lead Tiny Rhythms, bringing everyone together to dance and play in a drum circle, welcome to any and all experience levels. Our featured band, Chimney Choir, lead a Tiny Songsmith workshop to give insight into the songwriting process, and write a song with community members. Local businesses even pitched into the fun with Tiny Cocktails, Tiny Sushi, Tiny Art Shows, and so much more... And we got to wrap up each Tiny Residency with a (not so) Tiny Concert, bringing together many of the people we had gotten to connect with through workshops and interaction, proving that touring isn't always just about hopping in the van and driving eight hours to the next show.
