One of the most remarkable celebrities who have been Knighted is Sir Michael Caine. Michael Caine is a Cockney and growing up within earshot of Bow’s Bells seemed to be an unlikely place for a young man who would grow up to become a star. But this was precisely his story and he became one of the UK’s most recognized talents.

Of course, it’s not just actors who are knighted. Another one of the most recognized celebrities who have been Knighted is Sir Paul McCartney. Early in their career, The Beatles performed for a large audience which included Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. For her services to acting and also commanding James Bond in quite a few films, Judi Dench was given a Knighthood – and is now properly addressed as Dame Judi Dench, thank you very much!
