James, when he writes importance of works, he is not contradicting Paul's stand of "only by Faith", but in fact, in support of the faith, he is surfacing a great truth, that genuine faith (faith in Living God through Jesus Christ His Son) alone is capable of producing good works and Godly living in the lives of believers by Grace and that is without boasting.
