Here is another piece by the British composer (Alfred) Frederic Mullen (1868-1936). Jean Morel was one of the pseudonyms he used: others were Gustave Lind and Pierre Lescaut. The suites of piano pieces by this 'group' of composers were very popular in the early years of the last century. Mullen liked to preface his pieces by literary quotations, sometimes unattributed. This piece is headed by a quotation from Shelley's 1821 poem 'The Boat (On the Serchio)':
"The stars burnt out in the pale blue air,
And the thin white moon lay withering there."
Actually, I am not sure how the poem (set in Italy) fits the theme of 'Lotus-Land' (the cover illustration being of Egyptian pyramids)! The thumbnail shows arabesque decorations on the Alhambra in Granada.
