Is it illegal to record a police officer while he or she is working? Well, I answer that question in this video but it is fair to say that video recording a police officer in his or her line of work is generally acceptable if you're not interfering with their work. However, audio recording an officer might be a little more complicated.
But - what if the police officer tells you to erase your recording? Hmmm...that deserves some discussion.
There Is real importance to this question as the video recordings of many officers have led to the conclusion that certain officers violate the law while on duty and capturing this deception on video has been importance to the prosecution of these individuals.
