Chief Minister Omar Abdullah paid tribute to former Governors, legislators, and ministers during obituary references on the opening day of the J&K Assembly’s Autumn Session.
He said the departed leaders had served the people in their own ways and urged the House to adopt a concise format for such references, similar to Parliament’s practice.
The CM paid special tribute to former Governor Satya Pal Malik and late leader G. M. Shaheen, describing Shaheen as a courageous figure who continued public service even after surviving a landmine blast.
Omar Abdullah also expressed concern over the district administration’s failure to inform the Assembly Secretariat about the death of former legislator Mohammad Sultan Pandithpori, calling for action against the lapse.
