Phu Quoc is an island of extremes, and today’s vlog shows just how wide those contrasts can be.
On the way out for breakfast, I come across a road accident — a reminder that incidents like this are unfortunately common on the island and why travellers need to stay alert when moving around.
From there, the day continues with visits to several brand-new beach hotels and huge resort developments rising fast along the coastline. But right in the middle of all this investment, I find something very different — a small traditional fishing community still living its day-to-day life, squeezed between some of the largest and most expensive properties on the island.
It’s a powerful look at how old and new Phu Quoc exist side by side in 2026.
I wrap the evening up back at a bar, reflecting on another unpredictable day of travel on this rapidly changing island.
