Описание: Here we have a wonderful compilation of the works of Musica Antiqua. There are several early music ensembles called "Musica Antiqua", but I can't find much about this particular group, or indeed this particular compilation. Most of the music on it comes from their 1965 album of medieval music, "A Cheerful Noise", mixed with snippets of an absolutely delightful orchestration of Schein's Banchetto Musicale and other mid-late renaissance songs and dances. Also, we are treated to an auditory map of early music; four tracks entitled "England", "France & Spain", "Germany" and "Italy" respectively. Each is a medley of early music from the country in question, giving us a broad taste of the music of medieval and renaissance Europe. This was the first early music I'd ever heard, ten years ago, through a playlist on Spotify I found by accident, and discovered my love for early music. The recording quality of these pieces leaves something to be desired, but I nonetheless feel there is a touch of magic about this captivating treasury of medieval and renaissance songs, dances and carols.
