The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) and TTDC have developed the surrounding areas into an "Eco-Park" style destination:
Walkways: A new 2.3 km walkway around Madhavaram Lake and a 1.8 km walkway around Manali Lake.
Family Spaces: Children’s play areas, parks, and seating arrangements with specialized lighting for evening visits.
Facilities: Dedicated parking, public toilets, a small food court/snack bar, and a first-aid room.

3. Environmental Impact
Beyond tourism, the restoration serves critical ecological functions:
Flood Mitigation: Desilting has significantly increased the storage capacity of the lakes, helping to prevent flooding in nearby residential areas during the monsoon.
Water Quality: Sluice gates have been installed to prevent sewage from entering the water, and solar-powered aerators (fountains) help increase oxygen levels in the water.
Biodiversity: The area remains a haven for birds; recent studies have recorded over 55 species in the wetland.
