I use a Pro Arte Hake brush for a lot of the painting, and various colours and other brushes as mentioned in the demo, but please feel free to use whatever colours and brushes you like and are comfortable with if you try something similar, but bear in mind that the hake brush was popularized by Ron Ranson in the 1980s and 90s and is really versatile and perfect for painting scenes like this.
My board is at an angle of about 45-60 degrees.
