Описание: It was announced by the Finnish military that the Baltic Sea would be host to combined naval exercises involving Finland and NATO allies Latvia, Estonia and the Netherlands.
The exercises will feature a Latvian mine-laying vessel and minesweepers from Estonia and the Netherlands, according to the country's Coastal Fleet.
Commander Mikko Villikari, Chief of Staff of the Coastal Fleet, said that the exercise's primary objective is the discovery and identification of submerged items.
Also included in the training are two Finnish mine-hunters, the Katanpaa-class vessels.
There are plans to conduct military exercises in the Baltic Sea, some 330 miles (540 kilometers) from Russia's capital city of St. Petersburg, according to the Finnish military.
