Son-in-law held in Baltimore County lawyer’s killing, denies harming wife

Описание: A personal injury attorney killed Saturday afternoon in Phoenix was trying to protect his grandchildren from their father when he was shot, Baltimore County Police say. Mark Ryan, 41, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and a firearm offense over the weekend after his father-in-law, the lawyer Robert MacMeekin, was found dead on his back patio.

According to charging papers, Ryan was going to appear in court Monday in Harford County over a protective order sought by his wife. Now that his father-in-law is dead, he was denied bond that same day by a Baltimore County judge instead.

Ryan’s defense attorney, Richard Karceski, told reporters Monday that while there was a domestic argument Friday night over infidelity, his client “totally” denies harming her. Describing the accusations as having “very little meat on the bone,” he said that Ryan brought the gun to MacMeekin’s home because he knew other members of the family had firearms.
