Hello friends! Here's a watercolour tutorial on how to paint a realistic bird (Robin) in watercolour and how to avoid overpainting. Too many tiny details in a realistic piece of art can make your art look too busy and visually heavy & loaded. To transmit a fresh look with translucency, which is what makes watercolours so irresistible, can be achieved by striking a balance between what details you include and what you exclude from your paintings. This decision is crucial to shaping your personal style as well. So get ready to paint a beautiful, cute Robin with me.
My colour palette is simple:
Cadmium red & yellow
Winnsor violet
Burnt umber and Sepia, all from Winsor & Newton
The paper is Arche's cold pressed 20x20 cms block.
I'm using my Escoda round brushes 000,2, 10 and travel brush size 4
