The "Nuclear Football" is the nickname for the Presidential Emergency Satchel, a secure briefcase carried by a military aide that holds the tools and information for the U.S. President to authorize a nuclear strike from anywhere, even if cut off from normal communications. It contains authentication codes (the "biscuit"), emergency action plans, and communication systems to verify the President's identity and transmit launch orders to the Pentagon, ensuring nuclear command remains with the President.
