Описание: পটপটি ফুল (ইংরেজি: Ruellia Tuberosa) Acanthaceae পরিবারের অন্তর্গত একটি বর্ষজীবি গুল্ম জাতীয় উদ্ভিদ। এটি পটপটি, চটপটি নামে গ্রাম বাংলায় পরিচিত হলেও Minnieroot, fever root, snapdragon root, sheep potato, popping pod, duppy gun, cracker plant নামে পরিচিত।
বর্ণনা

পটপটি (রুয়েলিয়া) মূলত একপ্রকারের বনফুল, ফুলের আকার বেশ বড়। এই ফুলের আদি নিবাস দক্ষিণ আমেরিকা। ষোড়শ শতাব্দিতে এই দেশে আসে।

পটপটি লাজুক প্রকৃতির ফুল, সাধারণত দলবেঁধে থাকতে পছন্দ করে; তাই যেখানে এ ফুল গাছ জন্মে সেখানে অনেক গাছ একসাথে দেখা যায়। সারাবছর এদের দেখা গেলেও যেখানে-সেখানে দেখা যায় না। ফুল ফোটে সকালবেলা এবং দুপুর হলেই ঝড়ে পরে।

ফলের আকার ২ সে.মি (০.৮ ইঞ্চি) লম্বা ও প্রায় ২০ টি বীজ থাকে।

ফল পরিপক্ক হওয়ার পর পানির সংস্পর্শে এলে শব্দ করে ফেটে যায় ও বীজ ছড়িয়ে পরে।

চাষ

বাগানের শোভাবর্ধন গাছ হিসেবে চাষ করা যায়, তুলনামূলক আদ্র-ছায়া মিশ্রিত পরিবেশে ভালো জন্মায়।

নামকরণ

বৈজ্ঞানিক ক্যারলাস লিনিয়াস এর দ্বিপদ নামকরণ অনুযায়ী পটপটি ফুলের নামকরণ করা হয় রুয়েলিয়া টিউবারোসা নামে।

গুনাগুণ

গাছের শিকড় মূত্রনালীর পাথর অপসারণে কার্যকর ভূমিকা রাখে।

পাতার রস কণ্ঠনালীর রোগে ব্যবহার করা হয়।
