With a new national record of 15.02m, Thea Lafond took home the Olympic title in the women's triple jump. The medal is the first Olympic medal ever for the Caribbean nation of Dominica. Shanieka Ricketts took silver and Jasmine Moore took bronze, the first American medal ever in the event.
