The purpose of this is to use a laser as a flat reference to do things such as machining a flat surface or probing the height of a surface. The laser allows you to not have to rely on the CNC machine’s geometry to be perfect as we are using the laser line for that instead. In this video I’ve got all the major components working together. The whole system runs on 2 computers, 1 processing the webcam sensor data, 2 operating the cnc machine. I currently have to finish up the software on the LinuxCNC remote driver (live plotting sensor data, and GCODE generation). At this point the hard parts of getting everything working together is complete.
