Описание: On October 6, 2026, OpenAI published 722 mathematics manuscripts on GitHub, written by an internal model. The repository tracks verification in two different inventories, with different inclusion criteria.

This five-minute Brief follows a paper about approximating pi through three questions: was its proof checked, what does that check cover, and can outsiders reproduce the model's process? The accompanying Lean note covers the result about pi and explicitly excludes the paper's series consequence. That boundary matters.

The catalogue of formalized main results lists 162 papers. A separate inventory links 329 papers to Lean notes across 235 of the 372 families. Those inventories use different inclusion criteria. In this snapshot, 393 manuscripts have no linked Lean note. These are repository inventories, not our own independent verification of the proofs.

OpenAI released ten abridged reasoning summaries, an average compute figure, and a count of about 4,000 problems. It did not release the model or the prompts with this collection. Andrew Sutherland wants replication of the one-shot claims; Daniel Litt argues that true answers should be available to mathematicians.

The Frontier, Explained in Five Minutes.
