Designed using principles of Chinese medicine - which matches different notes to different organs and their physical, emotional and spiritual functions - this piece activates the energy of clarity within the heart organ.

In Chinese Medicine, the heart is considered the be the seat of the mind - the space in which thoughts and emotions arise, and from which they are expressed. The function of clearly expressing and receiving information [including seeing its source and discerning its nature as positive or negative] is attributed to the small intestine.

In tone, this piece uses the key of F# to activate the Heart and the key of G for the small intestine and the fire element. It also uses rhythms and dynamics that model softness, illumination, balanced receiving and expressing.

All music is recorded at 432.1 Hertz, a frequency associated with the Earth's natural vibration, considered to have greater health effects than music recorded at the standard pitch of 440 Hz.

Inspiration for this track came from the Chinese 10,000 year solar calendar [wànniánlì], which represents all macro and microcosmic phenomena in terms of 60 energetic combinations [the combination of 10 heavenly stems and 12 earthly branches, together representing the relationship between earth and different celestial bodies [i.e. Jupiter]. Each of these combinations are used to describe the energetic quality of the the year, month, day and hour. Previously, they have been used in Chinese medicine to predict the course and outcome of disease (e.g. someone with a lung disease [lungs are considered a metal organ], would be more likely to die on a day with metal qi [e.g. gèng 庚 or xìn 辛 day]). They have also been used as the basis of systems of personality analysis, life prediction and cosmic consultation, such as the 8 pillars system or Qíméndùnjǐa [one of the oldest systems of divination used by emperors to win wars]. Finally, they form the basis of most ancient and modern systems of fengshui - which are used to better understand how arrangement of space affects the individual.

In this particular album, the combination for the day of July 9th, 2019 [丁未 "dīng wèi"] was used, which respectively represent Heavenly stem Fire Yin and Earthly branch "Fire Earth, or Earth second yin". This two energies correspond to the heart and the small intestine organs of Chinese medicine. In this system, the energy of the small intestine [clarity, discernment, clear communication] moves into the Heart - whose role it is to receive the mandate of heaven, the integrative messages of the body and the earth, and to express both in a healthy way (whether it is through letting go or concrete action).
