1940s training film for Royal Air Force (RAF) medical orderlies. Hospital care
Shot of hospital ward , people sitting up and reading, nurses wandering about. Patient holding drip is wheeled in and placed onto a bed. Ambulance pulls up to two wooden buildings, apparently these are the wards for non-urgent cases. Orderlies start to of load the stretchers ,over seen by a corporal. The orderlies bring the stretchers into the ward and place it on two little white walls at either end of the stretcher that raise it off the ground. A medical officer and sister look at the patients medical card and then writes 'Fluids-Facio-Max' on a little blackboard above the patients head. An orderly with a moustache collects a label from a patient and writes something onto it. Overview of the wooden hut ward, orderlies attending the patients. The walking wounded are in a room with chairs, games, newspapers and books.
Overview of hospital canteen with WRAF giving out meals, man in centre of shot is sprinkling salt onto his meal with a knife. Men on stretchers are given meals. RAF orderly takes his first aid box into the stores area. He collects the stores he used up on the plane. WRAF orderly fills up her flasks from an urn and collects more cigarettes from a man in a white coat. Repeat shots of previous instructions with commentary summarising such. Shots of male and female orderlies loading a Dakota with boxes from an ambulance. Two shots of Dakotas about to take off.
RAF crew looks up into the sky. Aerial view of Dakota banking away. WRAF looks skyward, sun on face close up. 'The End' comes up with RAF circles faint behind.
