Clachtoll Broch: Stories from the Artefacts | ARP 2021

Описание: Since 2017, AOC Archaeology has been working closely with Historic Assynt, a community heritage group based in the Highlands of Scotland, to excavate, conserve and present one of the most spectacular Iron Age settlements in the UK.

The end of occupation at Clachtoll seems to have been marked by a major fire; the building was abandoned in a hurry, meaning that we have a unique snapshot into people’s lives 2,000 years ago. Left behind under the collapsed and burnt rubble were a wealth of artefacts. This lecture outlines the main results of the artefact analysis undertaken by a range of specialists.

The lecture is presented by Dr Andy Heald on behalf of Graeme Cavers, John Barber and Dawn McLaren. Andy has worked in heritage for over twenty years and has published a number of articles and books on the Atlantic Iron Age. Andy is the MD of AOC Archaeology and the Chair of the Scottish Strategic Archaeology Committee.
