How To Adjust A Sliding Door Power Controller Drive Chain

Imperial Brown manufactures walk-in coolers and freezers, and cold storage doors, made to order for foodservice, retail, pharmaceutical, and industrial uses, with plants in the Midwest, East Coast, and West Coast of the United States.

For this adjustment, you will use a 7/16” wrench and a pair of channel lock pliers.

First, operate the door to reach the closed position and turn off the power to the door controller. Now the door is safe to work on.

Pull the drive release cable to release the door from the drive chain and manually slide the door to disengage the Drive Chain Bullet from the Drive Release Tube.

Check the drive chain slack. The chain should not sag or move up and down more than ½”.

Loosen the Lock Nuts on the Threaded Rods at each end of the drive chain bullet with the 7/16” wrench.

Using the channel lock pliers, turn the Drive Chain Bullet counter-clockwise as viewed from the right to tighten the Chain.

NOTE: When making a large adjustment, it may be necessary to remove a link from the Chain in order to achieve the proper chain tension.

When the Drive Chain is properly adjusted, use the wrench to tighten the lock nuts on the threaded rods at each end of the drive chain bullet.

To reconnect the door to the Chain, move the door sideways until the door catches and free movement stops. The Drive Chain Bullet will automatically engage the Release Latch when the Drive Release Tube and the Bullet align.

Now turn the power back on at the controller and test cycle the door through its complete operation.

You have completed this adjustment if you are satisfied with the chain slack following the test cycling.
