It was pleasure for me to participate for the first time on surfski race Allwave Cup 2019 http://www.allwavecup.com/
It was long way to Italy, but Toscany is beautiful - lovely countryside, majestic and pitoresque towns, turquoise sea with sandy beaches and pine trees...
I very appreciated nice and familiar atmosphere in Argentario Camping Village where was the race basis.
Very beneficial was the chance to test surfskis from advanced companies like Think, Allwave or Stellar.
On the starting line stood more then 150 paddlers from 14 countries - most from Italy, many from Germany, also paddlers from Greece, Switzerland, Russia, Hungary...... and 1 man (me) from Czech Republic :-)
As proposed, the start should be from the beach, standing behind the boat. In fact, the first start was stopped because of irregular behaviour of some overmotivated paddlers, the second start was irregular as well - but OK, I have no problem with it.
There was nearly "no wind" first 8 km, next 3 km light upwind, next 10 km side wind and side waves. Really downwind was only the last (but nice) 1 km toward the finish line.
My result: 10. in Masters, 37. on surfski, 42. in total. I am satisfied, I did my best :-)
I have paddled on Stellar Surfski, type SEI - quick, stable, I can recommend for all intermediate and elite paddlers.
