DUTCH APPPLE COBBLER

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Lightly grease an 8"X8" baking dish. Set aside.

4 large tart apples (Granny Smith), peeled, cored, and cubed

1/3 cup packed light brown sugar

1/3 cup granulated sugar

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Pinch of ground Cloves

1/2 teaspoon ground Cinnamon

2 tablespoons cubed butter, chilled

TOPPING

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons sugar

1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/3 cup all- vegetable shortening, cubed

3 tablespoon milk or substitute with 2% or almond milk

1 large egg

1. In a large bowl add brown sugar, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, and clove. Add apple and toss until well coated.

2. Add into prepared baking dish.

3. In a medium bowl add flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Whisk. Cut in cubed shortening until mixture resembles cornmeal. Whisk egg and milk in a small bowl. Pour into dried ingredients. Mix into flour until mixture is just moistened.

4. Drop by tablespoonfuls over apples.

5. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until topping is golden in color and apple filling is bubbly.

6. Cool 15-20 minutes before serving.

7. Serve with ice-cream, whipping cream, or whatever else you can think of!!

TIPS: Store in an airtight container up to 2 days in the refrigerator. Warm in microwave for 10 seconds, at a time, until desired warmness!!
