We got to interview Bao Tran, the director of The Paper Tigers. We chatted to him about Bruce Lee’s legacy, multiculturalism in Kung Fu and creating action sequences. The U.K. Premiere of The Paper Tigers took place at #FSFF2021 at Stratford Picturehouse on the 11th September.

The Paper Tigers is a Martial Arts Comedy-Drama and it is Bao Tran’s debut feature film as a director. The film stars Alain Uy as Danny, Mykel Shannon Jenkins as Jim, Ron Yuan as Hing and Roger Yuan as Sifu Cheung. Paper Tigers is about Danny, Jim and Hing who are three childhood kung fu prodigies who grew up to become washed up middle aged men. When their Sifu is murdered, they must reunite to avenge their master to defend his legacy, while also balancing their dead-end jobs, dad duty and overcoming their past grudges.⠀
