Sen. Rodante Marcoleta on Monday addressed criticism over his remarks on the West Philippine Sea, saying he was not advocating to give up the Kalayaan Island Group (KIG).
Marcoleta said his comments were meant to clarify the legal basis of the Philippines’ 2016 arbitral ruling and the limits set by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
He stressed that his explanation should not be taken as support for China or as an act of disloyalty to the country.
