Making wooden shingles

Описание: Wooden shingles are traditional roofing material used for hundreds of years. This video documents the whole procces of making a wooden shingle using traditional methods and tools and reveals few facts about history of shingles and their use in present day.

As I work on reconstruction of my homestead from late 19th century, I had to make decision what roofing to go for. Original roofing on the house was done with spruce shingles. And although this method of roofing is quite challenging and rarely used today, I decided to do my best and try to restore the roof in the same fashion it was once built.
