Ik ḳhalish ko hasil-e-umr-e-ravan rahne diya
Jaan kar ham ne unhen na-mehrban rahne diya

Arzu-e-qurb bhi baḳhshi dilon ko ishq ne
Fasla bhi mere un ke darmiyan rahne diya

Kitni divaron ke saaye haath phailate rahe
Ishq ne lekin hamen be-ḳhanuman rahne diya

Apne apne hausle apni talab ki baat hai
Chun liya ham ne tumhen saara jahan rahne diya

Ye bhi kya jeene men jeena hai baghair un ke 'Adeeb'
Shamm-e- gul kar di gayi baaqi dhuan rahne diya.
