Let us explore the MAP function, a smart tool in Excel that checks each value in a list and gives a custom result for every item. It is perfect when you want to review a list and apply your own logic to each value. For example, if you have a list of student marks and you want to check who passed and who failed, MAP makes it easy.
In our example, we have three marks stored in cells A2 to A4. We want Excel to go through each of them and tell us whether it is a "Pass" or a "Fail". The formula we use is:
=MAP(A2:A4, LAMBDA(x, IF(x greater than sign =50, "Pass", "Fail")))
This formula means: "For each value in the range A2 to A4, check if it is greater than or equal to 50. If it is, return 'Pass'. Otherwise, return 'Fail'."
🎯 This is very helpful when working with grades, scores, percentages, or even prices — anything where you need to give a yes-or-no, pass-or-fail type of result for each item. It is like giving Excel a mini decision rule for every cell.
