Meanwhile the Emir of Qatar is attempting a mediation between the UAE, the driving force behind the 2017 boycott/blockade, and Saudi Arabia, the leading implementer. Shaikh Tamim Al Thani spoke to the UAE president in an attempt to find a way to defuse the situation between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi in Yemen.
Israeli commentator Rafi Glick, writing in the Times of Israel says UAE’s actions in Yemen were “highly active in consolidating the new India-Middle East corridor” and the recent Israeli recognition of Somaliland could enable a “India–UAE-Somaliland–Ethiopia corridor” which could “serve as a route bypassing Yemen and as an alternative bridge to Europe — via Sudan and the port of Benghazi in Libya”
