Maria Virginia "Gigie" Cruz is a photojournalist mostly motivated by social documentaries, ignited by her immersion in the environmental movement since her college years. She currently works as a Photo Editor for ABS-CBN News Digital (news.abs-cbn.com).
Cruz was the treasurer of the Photojournalists' Center of the Philippines (PCP) (2014-2016) after serving as vice president the previous years (2012-2014). She was also the Workshop Director for PCP's Professional Photojournalism Workshop from 2012 until 2014.
She graduated with a Degree in Architecture at the University of Santo Tomas and received a scholarship grant to the Diploma in Photojournalism program of the Konrad Adenaeur Asian Center for Journalism and the World Press Photo at the Ateneo de Manila University in 2007.
