NC Republicans override Gov. Stein's veto on gun bill

Lawmakers in the North Carolina General Assembly reconvened Tuesday, with Republicans attempting to override all 14 of Gov. Josh Stein's vetoes. As of Tuesday afternoon, they've already found success with multiple bills affecting gun laws and immigration enforcement.
There's no time limit for when a veto has to be overridden, so bills that did not make the cut Tuesday are not necessarily dead. More attempts could come later in the year if Republicans garner more support from Democrats.
The GOP has achieved success with one gun-related override. House Bill 193 is now law, allowing private schools to permit teachers, parents or volunteers to carry guns on campus and essentially function as security guards.
The measure drew sharp divisions among area representatives.
