Why is this French cooperative using waterways for freight transport?

Did you know that France has the longest waterway network in Europe? In June 2020, the French cooperative Les Canaliens decided to take advantage of this network by making river transport accessible to small agricultural, artisanal, or commercial structures. With their barge named Séraphine, they sail slowly through the country, offering their client a freight transport service with a reduced carbon impact. In this video, UMX travelled to Epinay-sur-Seine (France) to meet with them and understand why they are using waterways for freight transport.
