Mayor Eric Adams has dropped a bombshell announcement that he will not be running for New York City’s mayoral race.
On Sunday, Adams posted a video on X announcing his decision after weeks of speculation over whether he would remain in the race or drop out.
Adams is currently polling fourth behind socialist Zohran Mamdani, former governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa.
During Adams’ nearly 9-minute address, he spoke about his time as mayor and the “unfortunate events” surrounding his federal case.
Adams’ decision to drop out comes amid growing pressure that a crowded mayoral election race could lead to a Mamdani victory.
