Dale Earnhardt's Early Days: Inside Rod Osterlund's Former Race Shop with Doug Richert! (Crew Chief)

Описание: Before Dale Earnhardt was "The Intimidator" known for driving the black 3 car, he was just Ralph's boy from Kannapolis looking to make a career in NASCAR racing. His first of 7 cup series championships was achieved out of THIS building right here. His former crew chief and good friend Doug Richert has not been back here in 40 years until today! Back in the late 70's this was the home of Rod Osterlund Racing, who they hired a young Dale to drive full time in 1979. He won rookie of the year in 79 and became champion in 1980 attracting the iconic Wrangler sponsorship for 1981. Shortly after the 81 season began JD Stacy bought the team and Earnhardt left for RCR, taking Wrangler with him. The shop later became Blue Max racing and was also used by Hendrick Motorsports in some capacity back in the day before falling into disrepair and being converted into retail space by Art.
