Historia de Nueva Concepción: Este lugar se fundó mucho tiempo antes de la llegada de los españoles, en esos tiempos era habitado por indios chortis (mayas). Desde la segunda mitad del siglo XI formó parte del reino de Payaquí fundado por el anciano monarca Topilzín Acxitl, con base en la población chorti (maya) preestablecida y la población tulteca (nahoa) emigrante
De acuerdo al censo oficial de 2007, tiene una población de 28,625 habitantes. El municipio de Nueva Concepción tiene 257.49 km², las coordenadas son 14°07´47” Latitud Norte y 89°17´27” latitud este. Geográficamente Nueva Concepción está limitado al norte por Metapán y Agua Caliente, al noreste y este por Agua Caliente, al sureste por El Paísnal y Agua Caliente al sur por San Pablo Tacachico y Coatepeque, al suroeste por San Ana, al oeste por Texistepeque y Santa Ana, al noroeste por Masahuat y Guachipilín. Este municipio pertenece al Distrito de Tejutla.
¿Cómo llegar a Nueva Concepción? Para llegar a Nueva Concepción puede dirigirse por la carretera Troncal del Norte, desviándose por el desvío de Amayo en Tejutla, o por la Carretera Longitudinal del Norte que recorre el municipio. Actualmente las carreteras se encuentran en buen estado. La ruta buses para llegar a Nueva Concepción es la 141 que puede tomarse desde la Terminal de Oriente en San Salvador. También la ruta 489 que viaja directamente desde la cabecera departamental de Chalatenango hasta el centro del municipio. El transporte es fluido.
