Bogner Ecstasy 20th Anniversary EL34 vs XTC 101B (Strat, Les Paul, 7 String)

Описание: In the vast majority of the video, levels are matched very closely based on metering in my DAW.

The 20th is from 2010 (tube age unknown) and 101B is new from 2023 (new tubes). Both are loaded with JJ EL34s. The 20th has Chinese 12AX7Bs in V1-5 and NOS USA 12AX7 in V6. The 101B has a Tungsol 12AX7 in V1 and JJs in V2-6 (I'm not 100% sure about V6, hard to see through headshell). These tubes differences may explain some of the tonal differences.

Excursion was on M and Bright switches on B1 for every tone on both amps.

Green Channel Clean Tones: When the fx loop was engaged, I used a Strymon Flint for reverb.
Blue & Red Channel: When the fx loop was engaged, I used a Dunlop Echoplex Delay. When the overdrive pedal was added, it was a Maxon OD808X just boosting level/tone and no drive.

Both amps going into a KHE Amp Switcher and St Rock React:IR loadbox.

My thoughts: These amps sound very different to me except the clean channel is fairly close. The excursion switches, bright switches, and channel voicings are all different. Overall the 20th is more open sounding, and the 101B is more compressed and mid-forward. The 20th has more headroom and responsiveness to heavy picking. There is significantly less gain on the blue channel on the 20th, but it works great with an overdrive. I prefer the 20th and am sending the standard 101B back. The Ecstasy 20th and Helios are my favorite Bogners I've tried, and I'll do some comparisons of those two in the future.
