Moses said to Elohim, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, The Elohim of your fathers has sent me to you, and they ask me, What is his name? Then what shall I tell them?”
Elohim said to Moses, “Ahayah Ahshar Ahayah. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: Ahayah has sent me to you.”
Elohim also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, Ahayah, the Elohim of your fathers—the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Isaac and the Elohim of Jacob—has sent me to you. This is my name forever, the name you shall call me from generation to generation.”
Exodus 3:13-15
The Hebrew name for the “The Most High” consists of three separate elements, אהיה אשר אהיה (Ahayah Ahshar Ahayah).
•The first part consists of the prefix א (Ah), meaning "I," which denotes self, and the root word comes from the verb היה (hayah), meaning to "exist.” Combined, this means “The Self-Existent.”
•The second part comes from the relative particle, meaning “who.”
•The third part consists of the prefix א (Ah), meaning "I," which is omitted in translation because the subject is already present in the previous word. The root word comes from the verb היה (hayah), meaning to "exist,” which denotes a continuous existence –“shall always exist.”
Therefore, אהיה אשר אהיה (Ahayah Ahshar Ahayah) means “The Self-Existent Who Shall Always Exist.” or just simply אהיה (Ahayah) meaning The Self-Existent.
John the Revelator gave us a description of Ahayah in Revelation 1:4.
...Grace be unto you, and peace, from Him...
which IS [there's the present⬇️]...
and which WAS [there's the past⬅️]...
and which is TO COME [there's the future➡️]...
The 1611 KJV marginal note at Revelation 1:4 reads “Exodus 3:14”.
The Hebrew root word for Ahayah carries the definition of WAS...(there's the past⬅️), to BE... (there's the present⬇️) and to COME... (there's the future➡️).
Who IS⬇️ and Who WAS⬅️ and Who is COMING➡️!
The Most High's self-declared name reveals His unchanging, eternal nature. He's always present; thus, Him being the Ancient of Days. He existed before time and will always exist. Ahayah was without beginning … and Ahayah will be without end.
