Riding the overnight Greyhound bus, chasing the morning sun. Everybody's sleeping but the man next to me in rags. Is Phoenix the place? Can a TV show save humankind? Tune in at nine. What's to come of us?

I was riding the overnight Greyhound
With a sandwich in a paper bag
Everybody was sleeping
But the man next to me in rags
He stared up at the desert stars
I said what's your name?
He said my name is Jesus and I'm headed for Phoenix
Don't know if I'm going to stay
I showed him my bottle of water
Said I could go for a nice Merlot
He gave me a wink, said he could go for a drink
But he'd rather have a French Bordeaux
You could move a mountain
But it would be in vain
We lost your love for living
We're still killing in your name
Chorus:
Me and Jesus riding the Greyhound
Chasing down the morning sun
Everybody sleeping the night away
Dreaming of days to come
The bus pulled into Phoenix
He said, this ain't the place
I said you need a TV show
And bought him a ticket to L.A.
In two month's time I saw a billboard sign
Saying the end is near
But there's still time, tune in at nine
Your savior, he's right here
Chorus:
Me and Jesus riding the Greyhound
Chasing down the morning sun
Drinking wine, crucifying time
Dreaming of what's to come
Cactus in the moonlight like crosses
Raising their arms like plaintive sons
Me and Jesus riding the Greyhound
Dreaming of what's to come, what's to come
What's to come of us?
What's to come of us?
What's to come of us?
What's to come of us?
