Описание: Nearly all of Asia -- from Japan to Afghanistan, China to Sri Lanka -- has suffered an alarming erosion of media freedoms in recent years, with heavy censorship, internet restrictions, blatant persecution of the press, covert surveillance, and physical attacks against reporters and bloggers. In this important panel, leading journalists with years in Myanmar, China, India, and Hong Kong discuss the threats to press freedom in Asia, and the techniques they’re using to fight back.

Every two years since 2001, the world’s investigative journalism community has joined together in a different city, and the results have been extraordinary. The GIJCs are giant training conferences, with practical panels and workshops on the latest investigative techniques, data analysis, cross-border collaboration, networking, and more by the best journalists in the field. Our conferences have trained over 8,000 journalists and helped lead to the founding of investigative teams, nonprofit newsrooms, and headline-making stories around the world. Already, more than a thousand journalists from 117 countries have registered for #GIJC21.The 12th Global Investigative Journalism Conference is brought to you by the Global Investigative Journalism Network and the Judith Neilson Institute for Journalism and Ideas.

The Global Investigative Journalism Network is an international association of journalism organizations that support the training and sharing of information among investigative and data journalists—with special attention to those from repressive regimes and marginalized communities.
