WORK on the HOMESTEAD/ Clearing leaves, cleaning up the pasture, & hand milking Mabel

Описание: It's that time of year again! This an exciting time on homesteads around the world. Some are having new spring births but all are doing spring clean up and getting ready for new life to bloom. Today Robert is cleaning up the leaves from the pasture so he can clear out some of the new rocks that were grown after the rains. He is doing this so it will be a safer place for the animals to roam and graze. This also deters some of those pesky nope ropes and rodents looking to get too close to the house.
Of course in the middle of all of his work, Mabel decided it is time for her to be milked. I know it is a bit abnormal to let our cow tell us when its time but, we are sharing milk with her calf. After he has had his fill, she often lets us know he couldn't drain her on all 4 quarters. If she isn't milked she can develop a gorged utter and possible mastitis. That is a very painful infection that can become dangerous for her.
While Robert was away, I introduced Mabel to the milking machine. He seems to be just fine with it and I can get her milked in just a few minutes. I know I love it! and will show you in a future video just how that works and how much time is saved.
