The sheriff’s office combed through the Cal Poly campus in May 1996 looking for a girl named Kristin Smart, who had gone missing just a week earlier.
Smart was last seen returning to her dorm from a party.
In early January 2020, investigators released new details of evidence gathered in connection with her disappearance.
