I look back to the game's earliest days to investigate why- despite hostage mode coming first- defuse mode eventually reigned supreme. I also question how things might have been different, and ponder what would be required for the same change to happen today. Oh, and if you think those pie charts with the made up numbers were bad- they were a lot worse without the numbers
