This Red Fox is being treated for Sarcoptic mange.
Sarcoptes are a type of microscopic mite that burrow into an animal's skin, causing the hair to fall out and the skin to develop a thick, irritated crust.
Mange can be disabling and animals often die from secondary effects, such as dehydration and infection from open sores caused by scratching.
