Zone 2 Training is a critical training form intended to build out the athlete's motor without introducing high levels of fatigue. It’s training on easy-mode, no heavy efforts or high intensity.
What It Is Not:
❌No exciting intervals and time trials
❌No PR’s
❌No KOM’s
❌No Intense focus to grip your mind
❌No getting the ride over with quickly
❌No blazing past everything on the rode without noticing anything
❌No coming home absolutely zapped
For me I have to shift my mind from the intensity that makes fast rides fun, quick and exciting, and slow down and appreciate the things that low intensity Zone 2 rides represent.
What It Is:
✅An opportunity to relax
✅A chance to take in the sites and beauty of the landscape
✅A time to quiet the mind
✅Motor building without high fatigue
✅Following Coach’s plan and trusting the process
✅Does take forever
This is a Z2 ride around the beautiful SF Bay Area landscape where I truly get to take it all in and enjoy the simple beauty of cycling, freedom, and everything that comes with it.
