113 New Rail Cars from Bombardier

Описание: The NJ TRANSIT Board of Directors approved a contract with Bombardier December 12th to purchase the nation’s first self-propelled multilevel railcars. The 113 new MLV III railcars are powered by electric traction motors incorporated within one or a number of the vehicles on the train. This technology avoids the need for a locomotive, similar to the older, single-level Arrow III railcars they will replace. The new cars also feature the popular two-by-two seating found on our existing multilevel railcars, as well as individual power ports to charge mobile devices, an infotainment system and improved intercom system. The new MLV IIIs will increase seating capacity, service reliability, efficiency and customer comfort. Testing of MLV IIIs is scheduled for the third quarter of 2022, with revenue service debutscheduled for the 2nd quarter of 2023.
